Love this list Amy. I read Cutting for Stone years ago and loved it. I should get his new one. I love how you pulled the many events of your year together, the good and the bad. That’s life. Could we truly appreciate the highs without the lows? Grateful to have ‘met’ you on Substack this year!
No - but I bought the book and excited to get to it (despite the intimidation of it being HUGE!) Have you read? I had a friend tell me she loved it even more than the first…
Great books- thanks for sharing your list! I will add to mine! I got through just over 30, an improvement for me and I’m proud. Didn’t you tell me you liked Cutting for Stone better than his more recent book, which I read early in 2024, The Covenant of Water? I also don’t finish books I don’t like - life is too short! And cheers to better publishing events for 2025! Happy New Year!
Off to put Cutting for Stone on my holds list! And here's to 2025 bringing some *positive* publishing news and suprises for the the middle grade world, knock on wood.
I enjoy reading your newsletter, especially this one. As I look back on the year, I am grateful for Ryan’s recovery from cancer and continued positive response to treatment. It was a very difficult beginning to 2024.
Nothing like an illness - esp a very serious one - to put life into perspective. I hope 2025 is a happy and healthy one. So good to hear from you, Lorraine!

Me too 😍😍😍
I agree on Abraham V’s brilliance. Have you read The Covenant of Water?

I haven’t read his second book - but it’s on my shelf to read asap!

And I hope you like it. We can still be friends if you don't, haha. Not everyone who's read it is as fanatical about it as me :)
Oh I definitely have books like that ahem Wallace Stegner ahem. I’m excited to give it a try!!
Amen, amen, amen!
I really need to read YOU CAN MAKE THIS PLACE BEAUTIFUL. Everyone keeps saying how great it is :)
Congrats on the series option!
Thank you and it's sooooo good...nearly every page is dog-eared :)
